What are Midwives?
Registered Midwives provide free, safe, expert care. Midwives are health-care professionals who provide government-funded expert primary care during pregnancy, postpartum and to newborns
Midwives are part of the Ontario health-care system and our services are completely funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Ontario residents who are not currently covered by OHIP can still receive midwifery care with no charge.
We believe that our service is for all families and we accept everyone for who they are. We are in full support to help any and every women deliver their baby free of judgement but full of love. We support the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
Midwifery practice is informed by research, evidence-based guidelines, clinical experience, and the unique values and needs of those in their care. Midwives support physiologic birth. Midwives are experts about breastfeeding.
Midwives can order lab and diagnostic tests, the same ones a doctor would order for a healthy low-risk pregnancy. Our midwives can prescribe some medications related to the care of clients in the pregnancy, labour and birth, postpartum and newborns.
