Our Services
At Midwifery Collective you and your baby are being cared for by a team of registered midwives up until 6 weeks postpartum. All of the midwives work together collectively to ensure you receive the best possible care. At the Midwifery Collective of Essex County ,we provide free, safe and excellent care.
Our midwives care for women experiencing low risk pregnancy, labour, and postpartum. All of our services are covered by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
All of our midwives assess and monitor women throughout their pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, and also care for their newborn babies.
Midwives support clients to make informed decisions about their care. For example, when discussing the option of having genetic screening, ultrasound or other routine tests, your midwife will talk with you about what the test looks for, how it is performed, possible advantages and disadvantages, and any risks involved.
Choosing where to give birth is one of the decisions that your midwife will support you to make. Clients may decide to give birth safely at home, at the Windsor Regional Hospital or at the Leamington District Memorial Hospital. Midwives are the only health-care professionals who are specifically trained to attend out-of-hospital births. They are able to admit and discharge clients and access hospital resources needed by clients, including a consultation from a physician if there is a concern or complication.
Lactation Consultants help empower mothers in building their confidence in their breastfeeding choices. What is a lactation consultant? While breastfeeding is a natural process, sometimes it doesn’t come naturally to all moms and babies.
This is when an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant can help ease some of your worries, and assist with some of the difficulties you may be experiencing.
A lactation consultant is a specialist trained to help you breastfeed your baby.
Andrea is a Registered Midwife and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is the coordinator of the Expecting & Connecting program.
As a midwife and lactation consultant, Andrea can help you breastfeed, identify problems with breastfeeding, and help with these problems. She offers both virtual, clinic and home postpartum visits. She covers all of Windsor Essex and County.
This program is fully funded by the government.

IBLCE establishes the highest standards in lactation and breastfeeding care worldwide and certifies individuals who meet these standards.
